
To compete in a local pageant a contestant
must fulfill the following requirements:
- A contestant must be born female.
- A contestant must be a U.S. citizen.
- A contestant must be a resident of
city/town/state for at least six months
preceding the date of the local pageant in
which she wishes to compete
- A contestant must be in good health and be
willing and able to participate fully and
without limitation in any program
activities.
- A contestant must meet appearance and
other commitments set forth by the Executive
Director
- Teen & Preteen winners are required to
compete in Miss Virginia’s Outstanding Teen
& Preteen Pageant in June 2009 in Roanoke,
VA
- Teen/Preteen Age Division is based on age
as of June 23, 2009 (or first day of state
level competition): Nine (9) year old
contestants may chose to compete in the
Preteen or the Little Miss division.
If you compete as a Little Miss you MUST go
to state as a Princess for Miss Hampton
Roads. No two Miss HR titleholders are
allowed to compete against each other in the
same age division at state. Please
make sure you know whether or not you want
to compete at state before deciding to
compete locally as a Little or Preteen. If a contestant will turn thirteen
(13) before June 23, 2009, she must compete
in the Teen age division. If a contestant is
seventeen (17) and graduating high school in
2009 she must compete in the Miss division.
Seventeen (17) year old contestants not
graduating in 2009 must compete in the Teen
division. Little & Mini Miss contestant's
age division in which they will compete will
be based on their age the date of the local
preliminary (November 8, 2008). AGE
REQUIREMENTS ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
- Little Miss winner is required to
participate in the Miss Virginia Pageant in
June 2009 in Roanoke, VA as Miss Hampton
Roads Princess as part of the Miss Virginia
Princess Program
- Mini Miss winner has the option to serve
as a Princess to Miss Hampton Roads as part
of the Miss VA Princess Program in the Miss
VA Pageant in June 2009 in Roanoke or take
only the $200 cash award
Optional Category Rules:
Photogenic:
Submitted photos should be age appropriate
and should be natural (no glitz). Pictures
may be black & white or color and should be
8x10 in size. You may enter as many pictures
as you like ($25 for first entry, $10 for
each additional). Deliver hard copies no
later than rehearsal 11/7. All photos will
be returned on the date of competition;
November 8, 2008.
Community Service Essay:
For Teen contestants, essays should be two
pages typed or written. All other age
divisions should be one page typed, written
or a picture. The committee appreciates
creativity & attention to detail, but
reminds participants that essays will be
judged not only on the story itself, but
also the ability to stay within the essay
limits. We want to understand your service
as well as how it has changed you & your
community. This may be handed in the night
of rehearsal (at the latest); preferably you
can send it electronically by 11/4. Sorry,
but no submissions will be accepted the
morning of competition.
