Production Highlights

Miss contestants competing in Miss Hampton Roads 2009 on November 7-8 in Virginia Beach will participate in a professional, quality production that incorporates audio/visual elements on a projection screen on-stage during the pageant.

BEING ON TIME & IN ATTENDANCE TO REHEARSAL ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH, IS MANDATORY AS WE WILL BE TAPING KEY INTRODUCTIONS TO BE SHOWN DURING COMPETITION THE NEXT NIGHT.

AUDIO/VISUAL ELEMENTS

Each contestant will videotape three short audio/visual elements on Friday afternoon, November 7th, before rehearsal commences.  This is why punctuality and attendance is mandatory.  These segments will be shown on a large projection screen onstage during the competition on Saturday night.  The goal is to give the audience a deeper insight into your personality - what makes you YOU!   Additionally, not only will the electronic headshots you send be used in the program book, they will be a visual element of the production.  This is why e-copies of your headshots are so important!

Swimsuit narrative- :10-:12 seconds - Tell the audience something unique about yourself that separates you from the other contestants.  You are encouraged to be humorous.  This clip will play while you walk during Swimsuit competition.

Talent Intro- :10-:12 seconds- Personalize your talent selection and tell the audience something they don't know about the piece and explain why you chose it and what it means to you.  This will play after you are introduced allowing you time to travel across the stage and get set-up to begin talent.

Evening Gown Narrative:  :8-:10 seconds - Tell us how your thoughts about this aspect of the competition and why you chose the gown you're wearing, how it makes you feel, etc.

PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY FOR REHEARSAL AS  YOU ARE BEING TAPED.  Wear a dark or pastel solid color top.  You will be videotaped with a medium close-up camera shot (chest up).  NO STRIPES, CHECKS or WHITE BLOUSES.  Bear in mind a lavaliere microphone might need to be clipped to your blouse.

It is critical that you write and rehearse reciting these elements BEFORE arriving to the Sandler Center for rehearsal.  This will ensure that all three elements are delivered within the required time limits. We will not be able to use segments that do not adhere to the appropriate time limits.

These segments must be in good taste.  Please refrain from telling about personal experiences that may not be appropriate for young children to hear.

Your narrative copy MUST be approved BEFORE taping.  Email scripts BEFORE November 2nd to:  helen@misshamptonroads.org.

MOST IMPORTANTLY:  BE YOURSELF!   Use this as an opportunity for everyone to see your unique personality; that something special that makes you YOU!
