Purpose:
The Miss Hampton Roads Princess Program is established for young ladies ranging in age from 3 to 9. It is a program in which the Princesses are mentored by local Miss Hampton Roads contestants (Miss/Teen/Preteen/Little/Mini) for the duration of the annual competition weekend. The Princesses will participate in the production as well as attend a "Princess" event with the reigning Miss HR titleholders prior to the actual stage competition. The main goal of the Miss HR Princess Program is to enable young ladies to have better insight to The Miss Hampton Roads Program and what the Miss Virginia/America Program is all about.
Goals:
Ø Encourage younger, active involvement in the Miss HR Scholarship Pageant
Ø Provide a forum for personal growth.
Ø Mentor using positive role models.
Ø Have Fun!
In Short:
The Princess Program is not an actual competition, but it is something that will allow the younger children to get involved with our contestants/titleholders on the Sandler Center stage! It is a wonderful program because it shows everyone; parents and the young ladies, how everything operates. The Princess Program is great because after participating the girls will already know what will be expected of them if they do one day compete in any of the Miss Hampton Roads age divisions. Plus it's a glamorous exciting experience on a fabulous state-of-the-art stage!
The Miss Hampton Roads Princesses DIFFER from the winners of the Miss Hampton Roads Mini & Little Miss divisions who have their entry fee paid by the Miss Hampton Roads Organization to the Miss VA Princess Program as part of their prize package. Again, the Miss HR Princess Program is NOT a competition, requires no talent, interview, etc. At a high level, here is what the participants will receive for their entry:
Ø Rhinestone Tiara & Princess Sash
Ø Picture in Official Miss HR Program Book & on Miss HR website
Ø Introduction on stage during both afternoon and evening pageant events.
Ø Participation in & performance during both afternoon & evening stage
productions.
Ø Princess Event "tea party" on 11/2 from 2-4PM with Miss HR titleholders
A "Personality Award" (trophy) will be awarded to one of the Princesses that
attends the Tea Party. During this event anonymous judges will interact with and
observe the girls. The judges will discuss amongst themselves who they felt
exhibited the best disposition, manners, interacted with the other girls well, etc.
The winner of this award will be announced during the Teen/Preteen/Little/Mini pageant on November 8th. This event is not mandatory but will be fun!
