Areas of Competition

PRIVATE INTERVIEW:  Each contestant will have a 10-minute interview with the panel of judges.  Attire may be a dress or business suit.  Interview will be based on fact sheet submitted by each contestant as well as current events and relevant topics.

SWIMSUIT:  Contestants may wear a one-piece or a two-piece swimsuit.  Please select a style that is most flattering to your body type and in good taste.  Ladies may wear a heel of choice, but we suggest sandals having no more than a 3-inch heel. No bare feet.

TALENT:  New for 2009, talent will be a maximum of 1:30 minutes. Any talent presentation under 1:30 is acceptable, i.e., vocal, piano, violin, dance, monologue, etc.  Talents will be timed and points will be deducted if the contestant exceeds the time limit.

GOWN:    All contestants typically model a floor-length evening gown.  The goal is to determine the contestant’s sense of confidence, personality, stage presence and grace.

ON-STAGE QUESTION:  During the evening gown portion of the competition the contestants will each be asked two questions. The first question will be a light question followed by a question from either the interview or her platform. The goal is to determine their poise in public speaking and ability to articulate.

PARADE OF CONTESTANTS:  At the beginning of the pageant program there will be a parade of contestants in which each contestant will introduce themselves (Greetings, my name is ___________).  Miss contestants need to wear a black cocktail or other black dress (not floor length) with a splash/accent of red.  Solids work best on stage (no polka dots, checks or busy designs please).  While this component is not judged, it is the opening act and an opportunity for each contestant to make a first impression on stage.
